Developing Leadership Practices for Directors of the Ministry of Health Departments in Jeddah to Achieve Competitiveness in the Light of Strategic Management

Abstract
Objectives:
The study aimed to identify the theoretical foundations of leadership practices and the entrance to strategic management, and to identify the requirements for applying the strategic management entrance in the departments of the Ministry of Health in Jeddah to achieve competitiveness.
Study Method and performance:
The study relied on the descriptive analytical method, and the field study tool was a questionnaire, then it was applied to a sample of 50 employees of the Ministry of Health departments in Jeddah.
Results:
The study concluded that the directors of the departments of the Ministry of Health in Jeddah:
- follow up on decisions after they’ve been taken to ensure the feasibility and safety of their implementation.
- hesitate to involve employees in the decision-making process.
- provide a network of formal and informal communications between them and employees.
- rarely provide information for employees to enhance and facilitate the process of communication among themselves.
- take into account that the authorization process follows the stipulated regulations, instructions and laws.
- delegate employees only for routine work.
- evaluate employee performance based on their level of productivity.
- do not hold competitions among employees to incentivize them to work.
