Origin of IJBEGS
IJBEGS was founded as a thematic extension of the Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Environmental Design Sciences (JEDS), the flagship journal of the Faculty of Environmental Design. JEDS has historically covered a wide spectrum of environmental design topics across architecture, urban and regional planning, landscape architecture, and geomatics.
Building on this foundation, IJBEGS concentrates specifically on research that links built-environment disciplines with geospatial sciences — including GIS, remote sensing, spatial statistics, and advanced 3D/4D modelling. In this way, IJBEGS operates as a focused, international outlet that both complements and extends the academic mission previously undertaken by JEDS, by promoting evidence-based, spatially informed approaches to sustainable and resilient urban and regional development.
