Peer Review Process

Initial check

All submitted manuscripts will be initially assessed by the editorial office for suitability for the journal and meet initial submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's ethics policy or the standards of the journal will be rejected without processing them for peer-review. Manuscripts that are not prepared according to author guidelines or with language errors will be returned to the authors for revision. Decisions at this stage will be confirmed by the Editor-in-Chief.

Peer-Review process

Manuscripts deemed suitable and within the SJNR scope are then sent to a minimum of two independent reviewers to evaluate the scientific quality of the manuscript. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding the acceptance or rejection of articles. However, editors are not involved in decisions about manuscripts that they have  submitted or those that their colleagues have submitted. Comments from peer reviews are confidential and will only be shared with the reviewer's express permission.

Double anonymized review

This journal uses double anonymized review, which means the identities of the authors are concealed

from the reviewers, and vice versa.

To facilitate this, please include the following separately:

Title page (with author details): This should include the title, authors' names, affiliations, acknowledgements and any Declaration of Interest statement, and a complete address for the corresponding author including an e-mail address.
Anonymized manuscript (no author details): The main body of the paper (including the references, figures, tables and any acknowledgements) should not include any identifying information, such as the authors' names or affiliations.

Editorial Decision

All the articles after the reviewing process will have one of the following decisions:

1- Accept:

The manuscript is appropriate to be accepted as it stands.

2- Accept with Minor Revisions:

The manuscript is in principle accepted after revision based on the reviewer’s comments. Authors are given 1-2 weeks for minor revisions.

3- Reconsider with Major Revisions:

The acceptance status of the manuscript would depend on the revisions. The author needs to provide a clear, point-by-point response to each reviewer’s comments.
Any modifications to the manuscript should be highlighted by a different color in the revised version. It is important to ensure that all corrections are highlighted.
Authors will be asked to resubmit the revised paper through the OJS platform (submission system) within a suitable time frame (which will be determined by the Editor-in-Chief, usually 3–4 weeks).

4- Reject:

The article is rejected when it has serious flaws and/or makes no original, significant contribution to the field

After Acceptance

After your paper is accepted, your files will be assessed by the editorial office to ensure they are ready for production. You may be contacted if any updates or final files are required. Otherwise, your paper will be sent to the production team.

Once an accepted article is sent to the production department, the corresponding author will receive conformation email about the article status.
