Abstract:

Cress, Lepidium sativum Linn. (Cruciferae), locally known as Rashad is an annual tall glabrous herb, with erect stem, widely distributed in many countries of the world and traditionally used for the treatment of various human ailments.

The antifungal activity of ethanolic extract of  Lepidium sativum  seeds was assessed against the Madurella mycetomatis clinical isolates using different concentrations of ethanolic extract of Lepidium sativum (50, 25, 12.5, 6.25,   3.12, 1.6, 0.78,0.39,0.195,0.0976mg/ml ) using the agar dilution method. The ethanolic extract exhibit antifungal activity against Madurella mycetomatis with MIC 6.25mg/ml.The thin layer chromatography was done to ethanolic extract to separate the plant constituents by using different solvents system. The separation of constituent of the ethanolic extract of the Lepidium sativum by using the BAW system of thin layer chromatography gave thirteen components. The Rf were measured for each constituent.
