Abstract

Islamic coins contribute to supporting history and ancient studies researchers by providing historical information about some events that are not reported in historical sources, thus revealing them, and helping researchers in rewriting history and correcting some historical concepts through the readings of historical coins. The Dirham of Prince Issa bin Jaafar al-Mousawi minted in Makkah in the year (380 AH /990 AD), is one of the coins that has great importance, as it is the only evidence of this prince’s money, in addition to that it contributed to revealing some of the political events that took place during his reign like the struggle of the political forces at that time to take over Makkah.
