Abstract
This research focuses on studying the methodology of Imam Ibn al-Jawzi in dealing with Mukhtalif al-Hadith (conflicting hadiths) through his book "I‘lam al-‘Alam ba‘da Rusukhihi bi-Haqa’iq Nasikh al-Hadith min Mansukhihi". The study adopts an inductive-analytical approach to explore how Imam Ibn al-Jawzi applied his methodology in addressing seemingly contradictory hadiths. This highlights the role of Mukhtalif al-Hadith in preserving the Sunnah and resolving apparent contradictions within its texts, while also reinforcing a correct understanding of the Sunnah based on the methodology of verified scholars. One of the key findings of the research is the demonstration of the scholarly value of Ibn al-Jawzi's book and its significance for hadith scholars, as it serves as a major reference in the field of Mukhtalif al-Hadith. Additionally, the study recommends integrating this discipline as an independent subject in university and Islamic college curricula. It also encourages researchers to conduct analytical studies focusing on the methodologies of scholars in addressing conflicting hadiths.
