Abstract
Misspelling is an old phenomenon that spread on the tongues of the people of Arabic and those who learned it, as a result of the social interactions with the non-Arabs who accepted Islam. This phenomenon revealed a threat to the Arabic language and its people, but before it could spread across the tongues, it was met with opposition from eminent scholars who devoted most of their knowledge and time to identifying its errors and exposing them, and imparting the true and correct knowledge. As a result, compilations containing the misspelled words on the tongues began to appear, such as (The Book of Lahn al-Awwam) authored by Abu Bakr al-Zubaidi (d. 379 AH). Whereby he attempted to tally the terms that Andalusian people misspelled. Consequently, I decided to carry out research on the modifications that influence misspelled words and how Al-Zubaidi addressed them in his book, applying his accurate criterion for evaluation. The study was restricted to the form and morphological structure modifications found in Abu Bakr al-Zubaidi's book Lahn al-Awwam, "Forms of Derivatives - Plural Structures," as an illustration.
The topic is significant because it addresses the problem of misspelling on the level of the morphological and structural patterns that the Andalusians were enmeshed in, and because the vocabulary he gathered is thought to be original and distinct from that of his forebears.
The study aims to clarify the phenomenon of misspelling and its models in morphological structures in derivatives and plurals, as well as to explain Al-Zubaidi's correct aspect of usage and the effect of illusion or incorrect analogy in the use of vocabulary that deviates from correctness. It also reveals Al-Zubaidi's strict standardization, which is taken to rule by misspelling in what may be grammar school disagreements.
The study's findings included the following: in many of their spoken verses, the Andalusian commoners relied on illusions or incorrect analogies, which led them to spell words incorrectly. Al-Zubaidi used reasoning to explain why the Andalusian commoners made some mistakes, the majority of which were the result of illusion.
