Abstract

Research Subject: The Deep Understanding of How to Deal with the Difference between the Preachers in Light of the Prophet’s Speech Delivered to the Ansaar on the Day of Hunayn

This research deals with the concept of ‘difference’ (al-ikhtilaf) in terms of its lexical and contextual meaning as well as the semantics of this word used in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. Also, the research elaborates the types of difference and its reasons in view of the preachers (al-duaat). Moreover, the speech which was delivered by the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the day of Hunayn to the Ansaar (His helpers from among the local inhabitants of Medina), its date and its related narrations will be discussed in the research. In the end, the foundations of dealing with the ‘difference’ in the light of the speech will be elucidated.

Research Outcomes:

• There are scientific reasons behind the difference between the preachers (al-duaat) like the difference in their understanding and comprehension as well as there are congenital reasons like prejudice (al-ta’assub) and desire to follow personal inclination (ittiba al-hawa).


• The contents of the speech of the Prophet (peace be upon him) asserted the need to be just and fair when the differences occur.


• In case of differences, the preachers (al-duaat) should investigate the matter thoroughly before issuing any rulings and that is to close the door of enmity and divisiveness between them.

Research Recommendations:

• There is compelling need to give more focus on the study of Al-Sunnah Al-Nabawiyah (The traditions and practices of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) so that it can be benefited from in the contemporary Dawah


• The preachers should be prepared to deal with the difference from psychological, social and scientific aspects.
